​WALKING TOURS THROUGH ARRÁBIDA

​Discover the untouched beauty of the Arrábida Natural Park, through our guided walking tours.

Our walking tours are meticulously organized, so that the observation of unique species of fauna and flora is integrated with the observation of geomorphological genesis.

All of our routes cover a vast area and have invaluable heritage value, providing a unique and educational experience.

For groups, we carry out the activity by reservation, on a date and time to be defined.

SUGGESTED ROUTES

JARDIM DAS GORGÓNIAS - SERRA DO RISCO 

​Admire the stunning Baía das Gorgónias, with this guided tour and discover the Ruins of Fishing Armações from the 60s.

Serra do Risco, has the highest cliff in continental Europe (381 m) protecting the bay and our guide takes you on a partial climb so you can be dazzled by the panoramic views, including Sesimbra Castle.


Route features:
- Approximately 6,200 meters.
- Medium - Due to the distance, areas with defined trails with ups and downs.
- Approximate duration of 4 hours.
- Low Mediterranean vegetation, western limestone cliffs of the cape.

​DINOSAUR FOOTPRINTS AT CABO ESPICHEL

If you're a fan of dinosaurs and prehistory, this route is perfect for you.

Cabo Espichel is a place of great historical and cultural richness and it is possible to observe Cretaceous footprints on the rocky slabs, with a strong slope where dinosaur tracks are visible, associated with the remote legend of Our Lady of the Cape.

Our guide will happily tell you the legends relating to this place, while you get a glimpse of the Cabo Espichel Sanctuary, the Ermida da Memória, Mãe d'água, the Aqueduct and even the Metropolitan Area of Lisbon.


Route features:
- Approximately 7,700 meters.
- Low/Medium (some sections have a steep slope due to the distance).
- Approximate duration of 3 hours.
- Low Mediterranean vegetation, western limestone cliffs of the cape.

MARMITAS DE GIGANTE - EM TERRAS DO RISCO

​This Tour takes you to Marmitas de Gigante - A limestone geological formation, located in Ribeira do Risco and created by soil erosion.

Along the route, enjoy the exclusive experience of visiting a stunning balcony strategically located on the Risco escarpment from where you can observe the immensity of the Ocean and the entire surrounding area.

Does not include the climb to the top of the Risco mountain range.

- Approximately 7,800 meters.
- Medium - Due to the distance, areas with defined trails with ups and downs.
- Approximate duration of 4 hours.
- Low Mediterranean vegetation, western limestone cliffs of the cape.

SERRA DO RISCO - PÍNCARO

​If you want to reach the top of Serra do Risco, this is the route for you.

From the top of the mountain, you will be able to observe the highest cliff in continental Europe and the entire surrounding area, and you will also be able to appreciate the bay of Calhau da Cova and the ruins of fishing traps from the 60s.

Route features:
- Approximately 13 km.
Elevated - Due to the distance and very steep slope in some sections of the route.
- Approximate duration of 5 to 6 hours.
- Low Mediterranean vegetation, western limestone cliffs of the cape.

TOPO DA ARRÁBIDA - FORMOSINHO

​On this route, which starts next to Convento da Arrábida, through defined trails, you will have the opportunity to walk at the top of Serra da Arrábida (Formosinho) and see the entire surrounding area.

To the south, the Atlantic and the Tróia peninsula.

To the east, Sado, the city of Setúbal and Palmela.

To the north, the Tagus, Lisbon, and the entire Cascais line, including the Sintra mountains.

To the west, the Risco mountain range.

Before reaching Formosinho, you will find a short climb, which may be a bit of a challenge if you are not used to walking.


Route features:
- Approximately 2,900 meters.
- Elevated (route with a strong slope and very dense vegetation, in certain places along the route)
- Approximate duration of 3 hours.
- Coastal cliff covered with dense Mediterranean scrub.

LAPA DO FUMO - PRAIA DA RIBEIRA DO CAVALO

​With this walking tour you will be able to glimpse Lapa do Fumo, a natural hollow about 70 meters long that is located in Serra dos Pinheirinhos and surrounded by a unique natural landscape, with dense vegetation that contrasts happily with the translucent blue of the sea. Finish at Ribeira do Cavalo Beach where you can rest and catch your breath.

The tour does not include a visit to the interior of Lapa.


Route features:
- Approximately 6,600 meters.
- Medium - Due to the distance and the last section (steep climb).
- Approximate duration of 4 hours.
- Low Mediterranean vegetation, western limestone cliffs of the cape.

​OTHER PEDESTRIAN TOURS

BALEEIRA BEACH (PARAÍSO BEACH);

Discover Praia da Baleeira, “protected” by the São Domingos da Baralha Fort.

- SERRA DO LOURO - WINDMILLS;

This tour takes place on a trail located along the Serra do Louro, surrounded by some windmills, flanked by typical Arrábida vegetation.

- AGUNCHEIRAS/MECO;

This route allows participants to discover small beaches scattered along the sandstone cliffs north of Cape Espichel.

- CHÃ DOS NAVEGANTES;

The Fort of São Domingos da Baralha consists of a small fortification, located between Cape Espichel and Ponta do Cavalo, next to Baleeira beach.
